An Easter Story

I am here to write an Easter story, but to be frank I am too tired to be tell a story. This time of year is the time for renewal but I don’t feel very renewed. You see I’ve bought and coordinated matching head to toe outfits for my family. Got to look good for the biggest photo opportunity of the year. I’ve filled over one hundred Easter eggs for the school and church egg hunts. Both of my hands seized and I’ll be having nightmares about jellybeans for months. My kids have consumed a metric ton of candy. They’ve been bouncing around and crashing out for the past week. Running on excitement and marshmallow peeps. While that was going on I cooked enough food to feed a small village. I even had my ham made and bought from a restaurant, just don’t tell my Aunt Ida. Also my husband and I have painstakingly scheduled every get together and hunt we need to attend on Easter. Hopefully our kids can appreciate the military-like timing of our schedule. I’ve argued with my hair for thirty minutes trying to hide that stubborn cow lick that was passed down for generations. To make that matter worse I didn’t get into the salon because I booked too late. Everyone was already there getting their tresses dressed for Easter. Mine will look more like a festive nest. Maybe I can add eggs to it, do you think they’d buy that? No matter how quickly I spin my wheels I just don’t know if I’ll be ready for Easter. However, Easter morning is coming whether I’m ready or not.

But isn’t that the good thing about God though. We don’t have to be ready, or more like we never could’ve been ready. That Easter morning when Jesus rose from the dead, we were far from ready to receive Him. Our sins kept us separated from God and sorely underprepared to ever be considered spotless or blameless. Nothing that we could do would make us ready for God. That’s why He came to us. Jesus bridges the gap so that we can be ready for God. There’s nothing you can do to be perfect enough to earn salvation. The Bible says,

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It also says,

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The busyness of life may have you feeling like you’ll never quite meet the mark that you desire to reach. But thank God that, through Jesus, you can be ready for Him.
